## Gotchas agents must know

- **Leave test=true.** Keep test=true until a log row shows the JSON parsed. Their reference says a test does not send an order to the broker.
- **The URL is a secret.** It does not go in the chat, a public script, or a shared chart. The password is in the path.
- **The broker's session.** The receiving broker's session rules apply. Alpaca extended hours are limit-only. On TradeStation, DAY is 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. ET. Day+ is the premarket (6:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. ET) and the post-market (4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. ET), limit only.
- **Paper checks the wire.** Their paper broker is for seeing that a subscription is wired. It is the wrong place to judge how a strategy would have done.
