Daily tips
One short note a day about running agents around a trade. The note is published here first, then sent to the list.
- Is your Tradovate agent pointed at demo or live?
The problem: demo.tradovateapi.com is Tradovate's simulation engine and live.tradovateapi.com is live only, yet some code samples in the same docs call the live host (Tradovate API docs). An agent that copies a sample ends up on the live host. - Can your agent place an order you didn't approve?
The problem: In MCP, tools are model-controlled, so the model decides when to call an order tool. The spec says a human SHOULD be able to deny each call, which is a recommendation to the app, not a requirement (MCP tools spec). - Check one order before the next send
The free order check tests one order or one limits file. It does not watch the next send. Run it on one real order from the agent before you arm anything else.
Automated trading can lose money; start on paper and set hard limits. Not financial advice.
